In response to a request for email feedback a few minutes
ago on CNN Headline News , I posted the below :


The blackout was caused more by restrictions and disincentives on=
 the energy business than too Little regulation.

I think the most balanced comments I've seen on the causes of the=
 black out are from Jim Lesczynski in this week's Village Choice=
 from the http://www.manhattanlp.org :

A couple of observations came to me during my 26 hours without=
 such
modern conveniences as electric lighting and flush toilets. =
 First,
whatever turns out to be the cause of the blackout (assuming we=
 ever get
the real story), you can safely bet that the underlying problem=
 will be
our mercantilist system of pseudo-privatized, faux-deregulated=
 electric
utilities.  Every bureaucrat and NIMBY environmental activist who=
 ever
stood in the way of power plant construction or bold innovation=
 bares
some responsibility for the blackout.
