And >=A0spend it on what we want, the people be damned. EXACTLY ! The STATE is the head of the monster . The STATE TAKES the money off the tables each of us sit at to grow their wars of which the WOSD is just one . The STATE , other than some extreme weapons , makes nothing itself other than paperwork and prisons . ( Which is why all it can do is raise the cost of things . ) So , of course it takes its taken money and spends it with 10s of 1000s of companies of all sizes . Of course the business goes to friends . ( As Yassir Arafat said in the '80s , "With my enemies I make friends ; with my friends I make business" . The STATE , particularly under Shrub , doesn't care much about that first clause . ) As you point out , this particular supplier , Monsanto , is a multinational supplying its product to entities around the world . You can point out the liability for misuse of their product to the CEO and board . But how are you going to make that threat real . You can't kill an octopus by cutting off a tentacle or two . You have to go after the brain ring . Or you can starve it . What scares me about those who retain a Faith in the State , which is to say , a faith in the use of Force to order human relationships beyond the basic rule of non-initiation of aggression , is that in their antipathy to the freedom of choice which IS the rule of the market they continually support greater suppression of even our rights to assemble our resources even to raise our voices in unison . I.e : the McCain-Feingold sort of anti-1st amendment criminalization of political advertising . >=A0That's my point in the end. I'm not against profit. I >=A0could have been rich myself if I was willing to step >=A0on the weak and commit human rights atrocities to make >=A0money. I'm not too stupid to do it, just too moral. You could have become a politician ; that's a sure way to greater than average wealth . It's patently absurd to claim that great wealth comes from stepping on the weak and committing human rights atrocities ( which is a STATE specialty ) . Great wealth comes from creating something that great numbers of people feel improves their lives more than its cost to them -- whether that's great performances by an Arnold Schwartneger or Oprah Winfrey , or a cell phone , or organizing an international drug ring . --=A0 =A0Bob Armstrong -- http://CoSy.com -- 212-285-1864 " At the bottom of the endless pile of paper work which characterizes all regulation lies a gun .
