Subject: Smoke-free Cruse Ships Fail Date: Wed, 11 Feb 2004 12:00:35 -0500 To: lp_manhattan From: Bob Armstrong The mail order Cigar industry is under attack but is getting= their offense together pretty quickly . See : http://www.jrcigars.com/index.cfm?page=3Djrnews for an excellent essay by Lew Rothman , JR's owner . On the encouraging side : Trouble in Paradise? JRCigars.com, Inc. In 1998 with much herald, Carnival Cruise Line announced that its= newest Caribbean "Superliner," the Paradise, would be 100% smoke= free with a zero tolerance policy. Now this didn't make much= sense to us... people go on cruises to relax, eat too much,= drink cocktails, lounge about, and, of course, smoke a good= cigar while watching the sunset. Well, what seemed to us as= common sense has now caught up with Carnival, as they have just= announced they are discontinuing their smoke-free cruise. "We've never understood why it was not successful... We should've= been sailing full," Carnival spokesman Tim Gallagher told the= Miami Herald. Hmmm, maybe they still don't get it. Either way,= this is a victory for us smokers and hopefully the start of a= trend. And you can help by continuing to choose to spend your= dollars with those businesses which welcome and accommodate us.= See : = http://www.canada.com/travel/story.html?id=3DCF9BA104-1AC6-48CC-A5= 40-79AA8D869F87 -- Your Drug affairs Director --=A0 =A0Bob Armstrong -- http://CoSy.com -- 212-285-1864 WriteUp : .CoSy.MidWinterParty 17 := http://cosy.com/y04/MidWinter17.htm Computing Environment : =A0http://CoSy.com/CoSy/ A WTC vision : http://CoSy.com/CoSy/ConicAllConnect/ Liberty : http://CoSy.com/Liberty.htm Restore our Right to Relax : =A0http://ny.lp.org/cgi-bin/petition.cgi?Against_the_Smoking_Ban =A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A02004/02/11 11:40:33 AM
