 "life" is not a useful criterion . A wart is alive .
 To me the advent of consciousness is the meaningful threshold=
 and
 that is certainly not until near birth if not later .

 Having lived a life very much conditioned by having a retarded=
 older
 brother , the costs to REAL LIVE FAMILIES of not terminating a
 defective pregnancy can be crushing and overflow into both=
 charity
 and taxed funds .

 It is futile and only a source of domestic discord for the=
 State
 to attempt to get between a woman and her womb . All=
 prohibition
 will do is reestablish the black market which existed before
 R v W . ( Not a proud memory , but one of the few times I
  have been in WDC was during college years for an abortion by a
  doctor who was later one of the parties in R v W . )

 Abortion is , fundamentally , a suicide of one's own genetic
 legacy . It is a family , not a State matter .
