Below is the paper I wrote in the late `70s as what would have been my PhD thesis after a decade trying to make a dent in the understanding how brains work .
I believe it remains worth a read by those in the field .

Following a request , I've pulled the .gifs below into Thresholds.pdf . But I'm not going to bother doing any other updating of the page .

The .gifs below are some of the earliest I posted to www.cosy.com when I got the URL in 1996 .

It was the difficulty in getting across the math which I had understood thru being able to implement it in APL which turned the focus of my life to making ` APL level tools for thought available for everyday ` ambient use .
