   CALGARY (Dow Jones)--Agrium Inc. (AGMIF) said it has decided not to proceed
with its proposed Midwest nitrogen project at this time, following an
evaluation of the timing of the project.
  In a news release, Agrium said it has concluded that the timing of the
project is ''premature.''
  Agrium said it remains ''optimistic that market demand for nitrogen
fertilizers will eventually create a requirement for additional production
capacity in the U.S. midwest.''
  As reported, Agrium will begin trading on the New York Stock Exchange
tomorrow, under the trading symbol ''AGU.''
  Agrium is an integrated and diversified fertilizer company.
