This is calculable .  See my 2023 MidWinter NewsLetter . I've mentioned to Lynnane that it might be an interesting project to implement in CoSy with one or a few of her students . I'm interested also in the ratio of the energy needs to lift an object to orbit versus accelerating it laterally to orbital velocity . More generally making a vocabulary for these sorts of calculations .

Spectral filtering , ie: the ` GHG effect , cannot trap a heat ( energy density ) gradient . If it can , point me to the differential .

The first comment , which I don't see , is a long standing request for a paper with a good description of just how our color spectrum is measured from outside , from space , and a source for a table of the measured spectrum . This color spectrum , which I'm seeing named the Schwarzschild spectrum , and I've previously , in want of anything better called a ` Kirchhoff spectrum because it is the absorptivity==emissivity coefficient at each wavelength , strikes me as not being trivial to measure . And , I would think changes from day , when the planet is absorbing , to night when it is emitting .

The calculation of equilibrium temperature given the Sun's power spectrum , and the planet's ` color spectrum is rather straightforward , as in this slide from my 2014 Heartland talk .

The notion that simply citing a scalar reflectivity , aka : albedo , value by itself says much of anything about the equilibrium temperature is a pervasive falsehood . Grok groks it . ( This is a fact I learned as a grade school nerd during the Eisenhower administration , which is a big factor in my getting diverted into this brouhaha The endlessly parroted 255K meme is nonscience .  The consequential number is the gray=black body temperature around our orbit : ~ 278.6 +- 2.3 . That is the value entered in to the formula in the slide .

If someone points me to a table of the published spectra , with CO2 , and without , and the Sun's power spectrum ( lacking that I'll just use the Planck spectrum for 5778K ( from Wikipedia ) ) to calculate the implied mean planetary temperature . 

It's this most essential physics that I want to see nailed down and universally agreed before getting into details like a non-uniformly colored ball , eg: contents , oceans , clouds , and ice caps .
CoSy is as succinct as the APL & K from which it evolves for finite element , eg: voxel , modeling . But that's pointless unless the foundation is adamantine .
